The devotion to the subject of food, and eating out, is heartwarming. So I come back to the blog with a vengeance, if a single post in the last one month can be considered vengeance, so be it. Forgive me, dear readers for I haven’t been very consistent, reason? Well there are many! And hey, I know I have been away for a while but I am here to reassure any committed #LazeezStories followers that nothing drastic has happened. I am still alive, the restaurants haven’t failed and I haven’t waivered from my commitment to save my folks from bad lunches! I’ve just been busy, very, very BUSY! I have one person to thank and that is Svetlana, if it wasn’t for her and her constant reminders I’d have left my blog abandoned.
Indigo Delicatessen, ladies and gentlemen, recently won the Times food and Nightlife award for the best European casual dining and why not, here’s a full 5 for my favorite Deli in town! Biased, that I am, especially when it comes to Indigo Delicatessen!
Chef Tushar is a wizard who moves his wand and weaves magic in the kitchen. Try the pizzas, salads (mind you I’m not a salad guy), steaks, ice cream! Go ahead; try out everything you can lay your hands and eyes on! You won’t be disappointed; I can vouch for this place.
Quite recently was invited over a set dinner tasting at Indigo Delicatessen, Koregaon park and I came out impressed, like I always have walked out of Indigo! I ain’t taking much of your time, here’s a list of all that I tried and hey, you SHOULD try it out too!
The Sampler Menu by Chef Tushar!
Saffron Seafood Broth with assorted Seafood and Rouille Crouton! Quite a mouthful, isn’t it? Well that’s actually a variant of a Spanish soup made by a friend based on saffron, shrimps and bread, this one though was a tad salty, and I’d blame the seafood. Totally loved the rouille croutons though!
A salad made up of kale, fennel, apple batons, dried cranberries, feta and candied pecan nuts (the best part of a sad salad). Honestly I don’t know what they call it and I don’t even care! As far as they serve me a salad with such a pretty and delicious dressing I am game! Indigo Deli is one place where a salad is the main dish!
Tried 2 of their best-selling pizzas, also my personal favorites! 3 Peppers and 3 Cheese and the smoky BBQ Chicken! It can be fun (though sometimes cringe-inducing) to read things you’ve written years ago. So it’s been a bit of a blast to have stumbled across a cache of pizza writing from almost a year, but it still stands true for Indigo Deli! Love, love, and love the pizzas served there! The crust, it’s thinner than the thin. Still reading? Head over to the Deli!
The Deli roast chicken – No matter the season, deli roasted chicken is a winner! Honest, unpretentious, fresh and prepared with a lot of care. That’s what I love about Indigo Deli. The taste – Outstanding!
And then came in the Tenderloin Beef Steak, on a special request, gestures like these make them the best. Who else would request for a medium rare but me! The tenderest cut of beef (Buff) actually and boy, made to perfection! Only if I could have captured it properly you’d have been able to understand what I am yapping about. I still crave for a piece that good!
Some of the other stuff i tried at Indigo,
Sadly I couldn’t try the desserts as I had to rush to celebrate a dear ones birthday, but I still do vouch for the sweet treats served at my favorite deli in town – Indigo Delicatessen, ladies & Gentlemen!
