I am writing after a while but trust me, this is unlike any other article of mine which gives you a full-fledged insight of what all I tried. This time I am going to give you 5 reasons, yes just 5 awesome reasons to get into your car and take a joyride to the other side of the town because it’s the Rajasthani food fest, baby!

So 3 Spices at double Tree by Hilton brings to us a ten day extravaganza called the “Rajasthani Food Festival” where they are serving some of the most authentic and lip smacking delicacies from Rajasthan, mind you, “authentic” is the most widely used term but I have the audacity to use it here, that’s in reference to context, that’s about the dishes served at 3 Spices during the Rajasthani food festival.

So here are 5 reasons which I believe are enough to turn on any food freak that is in love with Rajasthani cuisine, I wasn’t, until I became a part of the unforgettable culinary experience at 3 Spices.

mirch wada

1) Mirchi wada – Stuffed chili fritters or chili cutlet, a very popular street snack of Rajasthan which is also known as Jodhpuri mirchi vada wherein green peppers are stuffed with masala filling and are deep fried to perfection! Rajasthani cuisine is perhaps the most sensitive amongst Indian cuisines, and when it comes to Mirchi vada, the very appearance of this quick bite is appetizing and it lures you, no matter how sophisticated you are, you can never say No to this spicy but oh so delicious snack.

2) Rajasthani Paya shorba – Goat trotters! Yeah, they had at me at Paya! I actually didn’t look up while I was savoring this out of this world shorba (soup) made in perfect Rajasthani spices. I actually forgot to mention about the Chef de Partie, Dharmendra Singh who is specially flown down from Jaipur for this fest. Chef nailed the shorba. It was one hell of a soup I have had in, you can say a decade! Yes, it was that good.

3) Maas ke shole – I am not sure if these originated in Rajasthan but I am sure of one thing, these were the tenderest pieces of baby lamb which were marinated in the heavenly almond, cashew nut and brown onion paste. The taste – Divine!

daal baati

4) Dal Baati Churma – Rajasthani food is incomplete without the mention of the famed dal baati churma, well I too was excited for these and I left the place as a happy man after my very first encounter with it. A typical rajasthani treat, the most traditional of Rajasthan’s dishes, the daal baati churma was perfect and if I am given one, just one more reason to visit 3 Spices for the Rajasthani food fest again, Daal baati churma will be that reason.

safed maas.jpg

5) Safed Maas – The creamy texture, the subtle spices, the nutty aroma, the falling off the bone meat, the elegance, the flamboyance, the lusciousness are just a few things I can pen down but honestly the actual experience cannot be described in words. It was mesmerizing, took me to another dimension. You will have to feel it to believe me. You will have to visit them, mark my words, you won’t be disappointed.
The dessert spread is huge too and my favorites include the Mawa ka Gujiya and Besan ke Chikki. Yes it’s un-missable! The fest ends soon, Go Now!
