Ten-second take away!
There’s no doubt about it, Arthur’s theme is drop dead gorgeous, and it sure has set a benchmark when it comes to serving European themed food in our beloved city. I have managed (with considerable ease) to get a table at Arthur’s a couple of times and have loved my experiences till date. To be honest I am a committed Francophile and hence when I was invited to try out the new menu, launched last month with oh so cryptic names, I jumped at the opportunity and found myself among my favorite gourmands, read “The Bteam”!
Brief – The new menu!
York – Grilled prawns served with mustard mayo. It’s almost like a half ceviche, half grilled, skewered prawns, a decent start indeed.
Sancho – Grilled calamari with herbs, I am not big on calamari and hence was skeptical about trying it, I did and I regret it. At first I thought it’s my palate and then I was informed by my colleagues that the calamari wasn’t fresh. Maybe a one off but it sure turned me off.
Constantine – Urgh! Why such names? I asked myself, Shut up and eat, was the answer! I did just that, loved Constantine which is a bread roll that has perfectly rolled chicken ham and smoked cheese. Spicy sriracha sauce on the side, what else do you need? Tranquility!
Philip – A risotto made of quinoa, for the ones who are wondering what quinoa is, here’s a little something. It’s a complete protein and fantastic wheat-free alternative, Quinoa is gluten-free, high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids. It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B-vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and various beneficial antioxidants, way too much info, right? Exactly! To cut it short, Philip at Arthur’s theme is a cheesy creamy Quinoa risotto with mushrooms and bell peppers. Vegetarian, healthy and palatable!
Julien – Yet another vegetarian dish which looked beautiful, that’s all I know about it. Oh and it had mushrooms!
Angela – A good lasagna is rare, Angela served at Arthur’s is a gourmet’s treat, had a bite, wanted to have some more but refrained as I was waiting for Stephen (Wait for it). This too is without any meat.
Stuart – There’s not much to write about Stuart, a good looking, vibrantly colored dish which unfortunately was a total disaster. Overcooked chicken, there was plenty to tempt and hence I didn’t pay much heed to Stuart. I think you shouldn’t either.
Stephen – I am sure you waited to read about this, just like I did when Stephen was described before it was served to us. Stephen was strangely gamy suggesting well hung beef (now you know what I was excited about). Top marks for the julienne carabeef served with flavored rice. Easily my favorite dish among the new entrants at Arthur’s theme!
We did try a couple more dishes out of which the pizzas sure deserve a mention, chicken pepperoni, yeah, that’s something you can look forward to. A variety of desserts are served at Arthur’s theme, I tried only one. The Affogato, The usual vanilla ice cream and brownie pored over by a shot of Arabica espresso, rare, I agree but oh so pleasant.
