Beto’s Bar & Kitchen – The uber chic lounge in town!

There are a few laws that we didn’t learn in school out of which one is the Bell’s theorem that states,

“When the body is immersed in water, the cell phone rings!”

I was in the exact same situation when a friend called up to confirm about a tasting at one of the swankiest bar and club in town. Yes, you guessed it right; it’s about Beto’s Bar & Kitchen! And Boy, I am glad I called back!

Pune gets another hot and happening destination with Beto’s Bar & Kitchen. This swanky enclave is something straight out of an F. Scott novel. Located on the 2nd floor of Runwal Diamond, NIBM road, the open air, multi level lounge has plenty to ooh and aah over. The main attractions being the cabanas, a special huge sail boat which has a capacity of 20 pax for a private eat out where people actually climb up the boat and sit under the sail and two-seaters which allow couples to have a cozy time over giggles while sipping on some delicious cocktails.

There are hotel bars (stuffy, uptight) and there are hotel bars (outdoor perfection) Beto’s Bar & Kitchen falls into the latter, that’s how soothing the ambience is and that’s how Beto’s Bar & Kitchen positions itself, a place that you can go to with your family, friends, colleagues and with that one special person who you’re crazy about.

            The Bistro Bar

You can sip a martini any time but there’s something particularly pleasurable about a mocktail designed for the colder months, from an updated martini to a seasonal riff on the manhattan, here’s what Beto’s Bar & Kitchen treated us to on a rather cold evening.

Blue Angel (Mocktail)
A base of blue Curacao with crushed ice and topped with sprite, truly refreshing, is really beautiful and elegant and it elevates the pomp and circumstance of the traditional glass of your drink.

I also tried the Pink lady, Mango tango and Virgin Bellini. These are to be included in the passable brigade.

              Major Munch

Potato Blini – My extensive research on caviar makes me say that potato blinis are an ideal base for caviar but the chef at Beto’s Bar & Kitchen impressed me with this elegant appetizer which was topped with mildly hot American corn and sour cream.

Potato Farci – Stuffed baked potatoes in French style, these just melted in mouth and made me go for a second helping, and for a version that is far less fattening but still just as full flavored, potato farci lives up to the hype, with creamy cheese spinach and corn.

Chicken Monakv – Something I would want to try again on a special evening brewed with my loved one, the chicken monakv is that dish you too wouldn’t want to miss, perfectly cut chicken cubes marinated in curd, coconut and bishop’s weed (ajwain) and is cooked in a clay oven, go ahead, binge!

Fish Tai chin – I don’t know what fish but yes a slice of fish tossed in black bean sauce with overpowering peppery foam which tasted pretty average.

Mutton Seekh kebabs – A delighting meaty starter which is really close to my heart, blame my upbringing, but hey, no one is complaining right? Neither am I, the seekh kebabs were just perfect, loved them.

Prawns in orange Cilantro sauce – I am a sea food lover and when it comes to prawns I don’t like my prawns to be messed with, maybe a bad day for me, the prawns, though simmered in a mildly spicy orange cilantro sauce didn’t really wow me, I am still willing to take my chances, I’ll definitely try them once again.

We also tried butter chicken and paneer lababdaar, both of them were pretty decent and also fairly priced for the portion size that is served. But the star of the evening was the Jamaican roast lamb.

Jamaican roast lamb – A tender leg of lamb marinated with rosemary and cooked in oven and was served with sautéed vegetables and basil sauce. The chef for sure added some sunshine to this traditional Jamaican dish and by God, we loved it. It is a must try when one is at Beto’s Bar & Kitchen.

              Sweet Treat

Sizzling brownie with Ice cream – Really? Do you guys really want me to pen it down? As if you all don’t know how and what it is! Well, this dessert doesn’t really need an introduction or even a review. Leaving you with the picture and an emoji 🙂

The best part of my evening was shaking a leg with the sensationally hot belly dancer, yes, you read it right. Belly Dance at Beto’s Bar & Kitchen! Isn’t that another reason to visit this awesome rooftop? Hell yeah it is! The starlit sky, panoramic view of the city, stylish ambience, special culinary preparations and exotic blends make Beto’s Bar & Kitchen a go to place to unwind and relax.

A shout out to Vishakha Rahul Jain for being such a friendly and awesome host for the fun filled evening. I’d like to thank her for inviting and hosting me and also wish her the best of luck for her future endeavors.
