Weekday Lunch Deal – The Irish House, Phoenix mall, Pune

The short lunch break gets a new definition and how? With the Irish house recently introducing their innovative Weekday quick lunch deal, guys it’s time to kick that brown bag lunch up a notch.

Team LazeezStories and friends were invited by Shweta Chaugule from ElSol Strategic Consultants for an exclusive tasting at the Irish House, Viman nagar and we were happy to oblige.

With new menus crafted specially by the chef; the weekday lunch deal is something to look out for. It’s available across outlets in Mumbai and Pune from Monday to Friday, 12 pm to 4 pm.

The concept is simple and the idea is simpler. To serve a hearty, quick and satisfying lunch to it’s customers. You can pick an appetizer, main course and a side dish to make a generous meal – All for as less as Rs 275++ for vegetarian and Rs 325++ for non vegetarian meal.

Here’s what all I tried, kindly look out for the recommendations!

1) Spaghetti Bolognese with BBQ glazed grilled chicken and cheese garlic bread.

For a healthier and leaner alternative to red meat, this chicken dish which was made in authentic Italian fashion stole my heart. A classic, in the real sense of the term! I paired the Bolognese with BBQ glazed grilled chicken and I recommend the same as it complimented the mains really well and so did the garlic bread.

2) Pan seared chicken with funghi rice as mains, smoky BBQ chicken sliders as appetizer and Potato wedges on the side.

Well, I believe I messed up this time. Though the chicken breast which was seasoned with a good crust of salt and pepper and finished with herbs and garlic was delicious, the BBQ chicken sliders were a sheer disappointment. Too much tang spoilt it for me. Loved the potato wedges, yet they couldn’t make up for it.

3) Grilled Harissa fish steak with mashed potatoes and burnt garlic sauce, grilled veggies and herb crusted fish nuggets.

Harissa is basically a North-African chili sauce that’s commonly eaten with couscous (North African semolina) but I pretty much liked it with fish. That smoky spice is orgasmic. A classic all time favorite – smooth and creamy mashed potatoes made the perfect side dish.

4) Sesame crusted fish with pepernota rice and coriander cream sauce, crispy fries with chicken Olivetti.

By now everyone knows about my weakness for prawns, unfortunately they don’t have any on the menu, so I made do with SE-same fish! Fish fillets crusted with black sesame seeds and deep fried to perfection. The coriander cream made it even better. I am for sure going back for this one.

5) Grilled chicken slaw sandwich

They failed terribly for the first time but were gentle enough to make me another one, this time only healthier, had way too much veggies, but yes, it’s a filling sandwich.

6) Herb crusted cottage cheese steak with pepperonata rice and cream cheese sauce.

Just to be funny I tried the vegetarian dish on the menu and to my amazement, I liked it. So to all the vegetarians reading this, do not be disheartened, The Irish House is going to take very good care of you.

7) Well, a special mention here for the chicken and jalepeno popcorn. 2 different appetizers, but they’re both worth it. I’m craving for them even while writing.

Well, wait, that’s not it, you can pair your lunch with a mug of kingfisher draught at Rs 95++ or a glass of Sangria for Rs 145++

So folks, take a break (a short one) because that’s the idea, gather your people and visit the Irish House for lunch every Monday to Friday from 12 pm to 4 pm.

I’d like to thank Shweta Chaugule from ElSol Strategic Consultants and team Irish House for inviting and hosting us.
